Medvedchuk, a Russian lawmaker imprisoned in Ukraine, wants to be taken by Russia's Federal Security Service to Transnistria and then to Moscow, APA reports citing UNIAN.
Ukrainian Security Service detained Medvedchuk at his exit from Kyiv. The statement came from the head of the Ukrainian Security Forces Ivan Bakanov during the national telethon.
The operation to detain the deputy lasted about a month, the official said.
"Russian special services have launched an operation to take Medvedev to Transnistria and from there to Moscow. "Even representatives of the criminal world and corrupt law enforcement agencies are involved in its implementation," said the head of the Ukrainian special services.
The Security Service of Ukraine has announced that the exact route of the FSB officers has been determined.
