Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Monday accused the United States of attempting to prevent the Russia-Africa summit, scheduled for late July, as well as discourage African countries from participating, APA reports citing TASS.
"The United States and its vassals are doing everything possible to achieve the international isolation of Russia," said the foreign minister. He further claimed there are countries allegedly willing to prioritize the interests of Washington and its allies over their own fundamental interests.
"Therefore, attempts to prevent our cooperation with the states of the Global South and East will continue, but their success is far from guaranteed," Lavrov concluded, according to TASS.
