Lavrov, Rubio discuss bilateral agenda during New York meeting

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held talks in New York on September 24 in a constructive and businesslike atmosphere and discussed the bilateral agenda, said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.

According to her, the talks were held in a truly businesslike and constructive atmosphere. "We discussed the agenda after Anchorage, paid attention to the situation around Ukraine, and also once again noted the development of the agreements reached in Alaska, the search for ways to a peaceful solution... We discussed a wide range of bilateral relations," Zakharova emphasized.

Note that Lavrov and Rubio met at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. Their conversation lasted less than an hour.

After the meeting, the State Department and the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the details of the talks. According to State Department Deputy Press Secretary Tommy Pigott, during the meeting, Rubio called on Moscow to take "significant steps" to achieve a long-term settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, during the talks, Lavrov emphasized that Moscow adheres to the line set by the leaders of Russia and the United States, including its readiness to coordinate efforts to eliminate the root causes of the conflict in Ukraine.
