"The current crisis in Russia's relations with the West is not due to the situation around Ukraine," said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview with RB, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
He said pressure on Moscow had been growing for years.
"The current crisis in relations with the West has not started now, and all these happenings are not because of Ukraine."
Lavrov recalled that during US President Donald Trump's tenure, then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called on the country's leadership not to trade with Russia and China, not to receive investment from them: "This was long before the current events."
