"Ukraine is ready to become a demilitarized state with its own army, following the example of Austria or Sweden," announced the head of the Russian delegation, presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky, APA reports citing Sputnik.

He clarified that this issue is being discussed at the level of the heads of the ministries of defense of Russia and Ukraine.

“Ukraine offers an Austrian, Swedish version of a neutral demilitarized state, but at the same time a state with its own army and navy. All these issues are being discussed at the level of the leadership of the ministries of defense of Russia and Ukraine, ”RIA Novosti quotes Vladimir Medinsky.

The assistant to the President of the Russian Federation reminded that Ukraine already has a neutral status. This was one of the conditions for the country’s exit from the Soviet Union. Neutrality is written in the Declaration of Sovereignty of Ukraine, said Medinsky.
