Kremlin appreciated impact of long table on image of Putin

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the unusually large distance between Putin and his interlocutors in recent years is due to the difficult epidemiological situation. The Kremlin spokesman announced this at a briefing, APA's correspondent in Moscow reports.

Peskov was asked if the Kremlin was afraid that Putin would appear distant from his interlocutors and whether the image of the head of state would worsen both in the eyes of Russians and the whole world.

“No, they are not afraid. These are absolutely temporary measures, they are explained by the epidemiological situation,” Peskov stressed.

According to him, now the figures for new coronavirus infections in Russia have gone down.

“But just a week ago we were at the peak of the wave – everyone was sick all the time: in all companies, departments, employees, their relatives, friends, and so on,” the presidential press secretary noted.

As a result, special precautions are being taken in the midst of such an epidemic, Peskov said.

“And when there is no time to quickly agree on meetings, there are much more of them than you see on TV, then they just happen at a slightly greater distance, there is nothing terrible or special here, we live in a time that dictates special measures,” concluded Peskov.
