An unidentified man with a knife attacked police officers at a checkpoint in the Derbent district of Dagestan, APA reports.
The officers used their weapons, and the attacker was killed, according to a report on the republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs' Telegram channel.
"At approximately 9:00 PM [Moscow time], an unknown individual armed with a knife attacked police officers manning the Dzhemikentsky checkpoint in the Derbent District of the Republic of Dagestan. In accordance with the federal law "On Police," automatic firearms were used. The knife-wielding attacker sustained fatal wounds," the statement reads.
There were no injuries among the police officers. The circumstances of the incident are being investigated, and a range of operational measures are being carried out.
