The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Monday that it prevented terrorist attacks on Jewish religious sites in the city of Krasnoyarsk in Siberia and Pyatigorsk in southern Russia, APA reports.
The FSB told the TASS news agency that the attacks were planned by supporters of an international terrorist organization "banned in Russia." It added that two people from a Central Asia country were arrested in Krasnoyarsk, claiming that they were preparing to detonate an explosive device in a city synagogue. In the city of Pyatigorsk, a Russian citizen was detained for planning to launch Molotov cocktails at the Jewish Religious Community, according to the agency.
"Two knives and communication equipment containing correspondence with a foreign coordinator of criminal activity on the Telegram messenger were also seized," the FSB stressed.
