Boris Avagyan, a former official of Russia’s Rosimushchestvo, was found dead at the Armenian consulate in St. Petersburg, APA’s Russian bureau reports, citing the “Mash” Telegram channel.
Authorities report that his death is suspected to be a suicide.
Note that Avagyan had fled from a court hearing where a pre-trial detention measure was to be chosen against him in connection with a customs evasion case totaling more than 4.2 billion rubles. Russian media also reported that Avagyan was wanted in Armenia as well, where he was being investigated for illegal border crossing and legalization of income obtained through criminal means.
