Russian director and head of the country's Cinematographers' Union Nikita Mikhalkov proposed on Thursday the founding of a Eurasian Film Academy, with an award similar to the United States Academy Awards' Oscar, APA reports citing Teletrader.

While the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences imposed no explicit ban on Russian movies, the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences barred Russian programs from competing for Emmys.
