European Parliament member Nacho Sanchez Amor criticized the criminal cases initiated by the authorities against the opposition in Armenia, APA reports, citing Armenian media.
He touched upon this issue at the meeting of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly held in Yerevan.
The Spanish MP said that it is unacceptable for people to be persecuted and arrested for their social media posts in a country that aspires to become a member of the European Union.
In response to Sanchez Amor's words, government MP Sargis Khandanyan accused Russia of "sending people to help Armenia and trying to influence the country."
