Dariga Nazarbayeva, the daughter of Kazakhstan's first president, Nursultan Nazarbayev, has announced that she has resigned as a member of the Mazhilis (lower house of parliament), APA reports citing Zakon.kz.
"Today I have decided to resign as a member of the Mazhilis of Parliament and fully focus on public, humanitarian, cultural and charitable activities," Nazarbayeva said.
She added the January 2022 events in Kazakhstan showed that there will be no prosperity and further development of the country without peace and unity of the people of Kazakhstan.
She also called for a thorough and objective investigation into the January unrest.
