Criminal case filed against Gevork and Ambartsum Nersisyan over election disruption in Armenia

A criminal case has been sent to court regarding Gevork and his nephew Ambartsum Nersisyan, the brother and nephew of Catholicos II Karekin in Armenia, the country’s prosecutor’s office said in a statement, APA reports, citing Armenian media.

They are accused of obstructing the pre-election campaign of the “Republic” party in Vagharshapat.

According to the investigation, on November 1 in the village of Voskeat (part of the larger Vagharshapat community), Gevork and Ambartsum Nersisyan caused a disturbance and insulted a party member distributing pre-election leaflets.

The investigation has been completed, and the case has been submitted to court with the corresponding indictment.
