The brother of the Armenian ambassador to the US has been charged and placed under house arrest as a preventive measure, APA reports, citing Sputnik Armenia.
The Investigative Committee of Armenia said that a criminal case has been initiated on the fact of illegal trafficking in firearms.
It should be noted that Mkrtich Mkrtichyan, the brother of the new Armenian ambassador to the US, Narek Mkrtchyan, has been detained. According to the information, small packages of drugs were found in Mkrtich Mkrtchyan's pockets. Along with the drugs, a weapon was also found on the ambassador's brother.
It should be noted that some time ago, Lilit Makunts was recalled from the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the US. Narek Mkrtchyan was appointed as the new Ambassador of Armenia to the US instead of Makunts. Narek Mkrtchyan previously served as the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia.
