The detention of Shahin Shikhlinski, head of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Yekaterinburg, has been extended, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
Today, the Verkh-Isetsky District Court considered a petition to prolong his detention and approved the request from the investigation. Shikhlinski’s detention has now been extended until December 30.
He is accused of attempted murder and involvement in violence against a government official.
Shikhlinski’s lawyer previously told local media that his client maintains his innocence and plans to appeal the detention order.
