Armenian police detained ASALA member who killed Turkish consul

Armenian police have detained the ASALA member Ambik Sasunyan in Yerevan, the Human Rights Defender Ruben Melikyan says in this regard, APA reports citing Sputnik Armenia.

Note that Ambik Sasunyan has been released in 2021 and is in Armenia right now.

Recall that Sasunyan killed the Turkish consul Kamal Arıkan in Los Angeles in 1982, So he has been subjected to life imprisonment in 1984. In 2002, a federal court allowed him to apply for release in 2009, 25 years after his arrest, but the petitions have been rejected.
