“After comprehensively analyzing all the information and realities as Prime Minister, I have come to the firm conclusion that we should not continue the Karabakh movement, because it would mean the destruction of the independence of the Republic of Armenia,” said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in his address to the people on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence of Armenia, APA reports.
Pashinyan emphasized that they have chosen the strategy of preserving and realizing Armenia’s independence: “This strategy is the ‘Real Armenia.’ This strategy has already turned into an ideology. It is within this ideology that a peaceful settlement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, genuine dialogue with Türkiye, and deepening of relations with Georgia and the Islamic Republic of Iran have become possible. Under these conditions, we are turning into a real and interesting partner for the world.”
The Prime Minister noted that the internationally recognized 29,743 sq/km territory of the Republic of Armenia is the most important value the nation has not possessed for more than five centuries.
“We must be guided by the interests of our state. The state and its interests must be the foundation and essence of our patriotism,” he stated.
Pashinyan stressed that Armenia has gone through hellish trials and reached a stage that once seemed unimaginable: “Today the Republic of Armenia is more independent than ever, more sovereign than ever, more of a state than ever, more prosperous than ever, and more promising than ever, because it is peace-loving. Peace has been established, and it must be institutionalized.”
The Prime Minister also added that August 2025 will mark the beginning of a peaceful and prosperous life for the Republic of Armenia.
For context, the Supreme Council of Armenia SSR adopted the Declaration of Independence of Armenia on August 23, 1990.
