“On April 9, the closed session of the Armenian Parliament on the issue of border delimitation between Azerbaijan and Armenia was rather tense and Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan persistently defended the theses proposed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan,” Armenia’s Joghovurd newspaper says, APA reports.
“Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan was more constructive in the discussions and said that he is ready to participate in such a meeting in the case of the parliamentary opposition taking the initiative again. It became clear from Mirzoyan and Grigoryan’s answers that in reality, the Armenian authorities do not yet know exactly when the works on border delimitation will start and which maps will be used as a basis,” the publication writes.
According to Joghovurd, the parliamentary opposition stated that the contact line established on September 24, 1993 should be used as a basis for delimitation and demarcation.
“In addition to that, the opposition stated that under no circumstances should any territory be given to Azerbaijan without a referendum. Ararat Mirzoyan and Mher Grigoryan's answers to the raised questions were vague,” Joghovurd notes.
