A court in Armenia has issued another verdict in the case of the beating of current Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, APA reports, citing Armenian media.

According to the report, based on the court’s decision, Torgom Asatryan was sentenced to 5 and a half years in prison. The prosecutor had requested a 7-year prison term for him. Asatryan has already served part of his sentence in the detention facility since February 2023.

In the same case, Ara Badoyan was sentenced to 3 years in prison in May of this year.

Recall that Ararat Mirzoyan was beaten during the riots that broke out on the night of November 10, 2020, immediately after the signing of the trilateral statement on Karabakh. At that time, he was the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament. Following the signing of the document, mass unrest took place in front of the parliament, government buildings, and the prime minister’s residence in Yerevan.
