Armenian border guards will start independent service at Zvartnots airport from August 1-UPDATED

The Armenian border guards have told the Russian side that they will start independent service at the Zvartnots airport from August 1, the Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said as he held a briefing for the media, APA reports.

The Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan touched upon the issue of the withdrawal of Russian border guards from Zvartnots airport during the press conference he held today, APA reports.

According to the Prime Minister, the Armenian Border Service has gained a lot of experience and can independently control the Zvartnots airport of the capital city Yerevan.

“I don’t know how Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan voiced this issue, but our respective state bodies sent an official letter to Russia, expressing gratitude them for their support,” Pashinyan noted.

Note that on March 6, Armen Grigoryan, Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia said that the Armenian side has sent an official letter to the Russian Federation to withdraw the Russian border guards from the Zvartnots airport
