The Armenian government, at its meeting held today, adopted a decision to amend the law on military service and the status of military personnel, reducing the service period to 18 months, APA reports, citing Armenian media.
According to the decision, the duration of military service will be reduced from 24 to 18 months starting from the winter call-up of 2025.
The government states that these changes are aimed at easing the burden on military conscripts and optimizing the service period.
In addition, the draft law envisages a reduction in the costs of organizing compulsory military service from the second half of 2027.
