Speaker of Parliament of Armenia Alen Simonyan has started carrying out duties of President, APA reports citing Aysor.

In accordance with Constitution, he will implement the powers of head of state until the election of a new President.

Vice Speaker of Parliament Hakob Arshakyan will fulfill the duties of the Speaker of Parliament.

Armenian Parliament has today confirmed resignation of President Armen Sarkissian.
