At least 78 forest fires have been extinguished in Russia over the past day, said the press service of Avialesookhrana, APA reports.
“According to the information of the regional forestry dispatch services, over the past day on July 7, 2022, 78 forest fires were eliminated in Russia on an area of 4,390 hectares” the department said.
It is noted that currently 122 hotbeds of natural fires continue to operate in the Russian regions. Their total area is estimated at 30,418 hectares.
The largest number of fires was recorded on the territory of Yakutia – about 16 thousand hectares were engulfed in fire there. Also, large natural fires were recorded in the Khabarovsk Territory, Irkutsk and Arkhangelsk regions, as well as in the Komi Republic.
2,896 specialists and 3,122 units of special equipment are taking part in the elimination of forest fires in Russia.
