230 people were killed as a result of the riots which occurred in early January in Kazakhstan, Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan Berik Asylov said on March 14 at a meeting of the Mazhilis, APA reports citing Tengrinews.
19 of them were military and security officers. Most of the victims died in Almaty - 139 people.
20 citizens were accidentally shot, including 11 in Almaty, 8 in the Almaty region, and 1 in Taraz, he said.
About 3,500 soldiers were wounded.
