As a result of an international search operation carried out by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the State Security Service, and the Customs Service of Uzbekistan, a total of 111 kilograms of narcotics were seized, saidthe press service of Uzbekistan’s MIA, APA reports.
The activities of an international drug trafficking group operating in the country were exposed during the operation, and six individuals were detained.
It was noted that since Uzbekistan is located on the main “northern route” used for transporting opium and heroin from Afghanistan to Russia and Europe, attempts to use the country’s territory for international drug trafficking occur regularly.
