Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Galuzin and Turkish Ambassador to Moscow Tanju Bilgic critically assessed the West's attempts to destabilize the situation in the South Caucasus, according to a message of the Russian Foreign Ministry following the meeting, APA reports citing TASS.

“A number of topical issues were discussed, primarily related to the situation in the South Caucasus,” the diplomatic department noted. “The parties’ critical assessment of the attempts of the collective West to bring tension to this region and destabilize it in their own opportunistic interests was emphasized.”

The parties also expressed mutual interest in “continuing rhythmic work within the framework of the consultative regional platform “3+3” (Russia, Iran, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Armenia) as a key factor in strengthening stability and security in the Transcaucasus.” The doors of the format still remain open for Georgia, as indicated on Smolensk Square.

The ministry clarified that the meeting took place at the initiative of the Turkish side.
