At the current stage of negotiations with the United States, the main focus is on ending the war on all fronts, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated, APA reports.

“Taking previous experience into account, at this stage the main focus is on ending the war on all fronts, including in Lebanon, and it has been decided not to discuss the nuclear issue,” Baghaei said.

According to him, the document currently under discussion is not a final agreement between Iran and the United States: “This is not a final agreement between Iran and the United States, but rather an understanding that defines the general framework of disputed issues and clarifies that the war will come to an end.”

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson noted that issues related to the nuclear program are expected to be discussed at a later stage: “It is also planned that the nuclear issue will be discussed within 60 days. Therefore, no discussions are being held on its details at the current stage.”

The Iranian Foreign Ministry official emphasized that attacks on Iranian vessels and issues related to the Strait of Hormuz are also among the topics being discussed in the negotiations.

At the same time, Baghaei added that Iran will take countermeasures if the other side refuses to fulfill its obligations: “Obligations will be determined on a reciprocal basis, and if at any stage the other side refuses to fulfill its obligations, Iran will be granted the right to take countermeasures.”
