The death toll from severe flooding caused by monsoon rains in the northeastern Indian state of Assam has risen to 85, The Times of India said, APA reports.
According to the report, more than 300,000 people have been affected by the floods. Floodwaters have submerged 349 villages and caused severe damage to 15,400 hectares of agricultural land.
It was reported that the Indian Army and Air Force have also been deployed to assist rescue operations amid the ongoing heavy monsoon rains and flooding in Assam. Evacuation and humanitarian relief efforts are continuing.
