Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has commented on U.S. President Donald Trump's statement regarding Iran's frozen assets, APA's Tehran bureau reports.

Araghchi wrote on his social media account that freezing a country's assets to satisfy future claims that may be made and are not directly related sets a dangerous precedent.

The minister said that those who believe they would benefit from such a step should bear in mind that if governments turn the confiscation of other countries' property into common practice, no state's assets will any longer be guaranteed security and immunity.

According to Araghchi, the resulting chaos and instability would serve neither the interests of states nor international peace.

Note that a few hours earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump said that any damage to ships and cargoes would be compensated from Iranian assets frozen in the United States.
