UN appoints new acting chief for its office in Geneva

Baku-APA. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki- moon has appointed Michael Moller of Denmark as the acting head of the UN Office at Geneva, a UN spokesman announced here Tuesday, APA reports.

The announcement was made by Farhan Haq, the acting deputy UN spokesman, at a daily news briefing here.

Moller, who has served for more than 30 years as an international civil servant with the United Nations, will replace Kassym-Jomart Tokayev from Kazakhstan.

The United Nations Office at Geneva is the second largest of the four major office sites of the United Nations after the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. It is located in the Palais des Nations building constructed for the League of Nations early last century in Geneva, Switzerland.
