Baku-APA. U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns on Thursday vowed to fight terrorism alongside Libyans by deepening security cooperation, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"The U.S. is fully committed to support the Libyans in the transitional phase ... and will help Libyans to achieve democracy and live a stable life," Burns said during a press conference in Tripoli after talks with senior Libyan officials the previous day.

He said that Washington has determination to fight back terrorism that "the U.S. had experienced and Libya is experiencing now." He added that rebuilding security is now the core issue to a smooth political transition and to revive Libya's economy.

Libya's interim government has been unable to established an effective control all over the country since the fall of former leader Muammar Gaddafi. The United States and some European countries have been assisting Libya in training security forces.

But Burns did not give details on if additional help will be provided to the war-torn North African country.
