U.S. vice president announces new chief of staff

Baku-APA. U.S. Vice President Joe Biden announced Wednesday his chief of staff Bruce Reed is departing and will be replaced by senior aide Steve Ricchetti, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

According to a White House statement, Ricchetti has served as counselor to Biden since March 2012. Reed will step down in mid-December to become President of The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation.

Ricchetti has served on Capitol Hill, and in the Clinton Administration as Deputy Chief of Staff and Deputy Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs, and had 10 years in the private sector.

Ricchetti's formal title will be Assistant to the President and Chief of Staff to the Vice President.
