Texas student commits suicide at school

Baku-APA. A 17-year-old American student committed suicide in a high school courtyard in Texas on Tuesday, according to news reports, APA reports quoting Press TV.

Austin police have confirmed that a male student shot himself at Lanier High School before 1:30 p.m. local time and that he died from his wounds.

Authorities have not yet identified the student but other students at the school identified him as Adrian Alvaresz.

It was not immediately known why the student committed suicide.

A photo circulating on social media shows two Facebook updates from Alvaresz on Tuesday morning, one in which he threatened to kill himself and another apparently shows him pointing a gun at his head.

According to Adrian’s Facebook page, he had a one-year-old son.

Austin Independent School District released a statement saying the Lanier High School was put on lockdown following the incident.

Senior administrators plan to host a press conference to address the incident.
