Baku-APA. A 76-year-old pilot was killed when his ultra-light plane plunged to the ground in the U.S. state of Texas Tuesday morning, APA reports quoting local media.
The incident happened at around 10:30 a.m. (15:30 GMT) in Santa Fe, a city about 50 km south of Houston, Texas' largest city, local TV ABC13 reported. Deputies who were called to the scene pronounced the only person on the plane dead.
The pilot was identified as Roger Brown. A friend of the pilot who witnessed the crash said she watched Brown struggling to try to set the aircraft down safely.
According to the unnamed witness, Brown had purchased the ultra- light a couple of weeks ago, and it was his first time to take it out on a flight.
It is not immediately known what caused the crash. Texas Department of Public Safety and emergency medical services personnel are investigating at the scene.
