Baku-APA. Four crewmembers were rescued after a U.S. Navy helicopter crashed off the coast of Norfolk, Va., on Wednesday, the Navy said. The search for a fifth crewmember is under way, APA reports quoting news.yahoo.com.
Five people were on board the helicopter, a MH-53E Sea Dragon, at the time of the crash.
According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the crash occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m. in the Atlantic Ocean about 18 miles off the Virginia coast.
Petty Officer David Weydert Yahoo News that two Coast Guard vessels responded, and that one was between 2 and 3 nautical miles of where the helicopter went down. Helicopters from the U.S. Navy as well as local law enforcement agencies are participating in the search, Weydert said.
The incident comes a day after four people were killed in a U.S. military helicopter crash off the coast of Norfolk, England.
