Investigators suspect another child, a 3-year-old, fired the fatal round after discovering a handgun inside a house in the city’s East Side, APA reported citied ABC 5.
“It’s a sad day for Cleveland,” police Chief Calvin Williams told reporters outside the house. “A 1-year-old child lost their life today.”
Cops are still trying to figure out how the 3-year-old got ahold of a handgun, but the deadly weapon was apparently “untended,” Williams said.
He identified the dead child as Braylon Robinson and said at least one adult was home at the time of the fatal shooting, ABC 5 reported.
The names of the boy’s parents were not released immediately, but Williams promised adults would be held accountable.
