The U.S. administration has invited other countries to join a new international coalition aimed at ensuring the safe passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, the State Department has sent information about the new maritime initiative to U.S. embassies and instructed diplomats to persuade foreign governments to participate.
The newspaper reports that the U.S.-led coalition will enable participants to exchange information, coordinate diplomatic efforts, and assist in the implementation of sanctions.
