Military operations against Iran could resume if a final nuclear agreement is not reached, U.S. President Donald Trump has said in an interview with The New York Times, APA reports.
He said a new round of nuclear negotiations with Iran is expected to begin in Switzerland later this week.
Trump also noted that the current understanding being discussed with Tehran should ensure that the Strait of Hormuz remains permanently open and free of charges in the future.
Speaking about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said Israel's recent strikes on Lebanon were unnecessary at a time when a peace agreement with Iran was within reach. He added that Israel should be grateful for the efforts made by the United States.
