US President Donald Trump has instructed Pentagon Secretary Pete Hegseth to scale back joint military exercises with the Republic of Korea because they send a "hostile signal" to North Korea, APA reports.
Trump recalled his "very good relationship" with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that the United States long ago agreed to participate in joint military exercises with the Republic of Korea. "Not only are these exercises expensive, with the United States, as usual, footing the bill, but they also send a completely inappropriate and hostile signal to a country that has posed no threat and shown respect during Donald Trump's presidency. Therefore, and given that it is too late to cancel them, I have instructed Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth to significantly reduce the scale of the joint military exercises!" the head of state wrote in Truth Social.
