At least eight people were killed and 10 more injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck in the state of Minas Gerais in southeastern Brazil, APA reports citing CNN Brasil.
According to him, the accident occurred early Sunday morning on a federal highway in the municipality of Santa Cruz de Salinas in the northeast of the state. After a powerful impact, the bus overturned, and both vehicles caught fire.
Regional fire officials reported that all the victims were on a passenger bus, including an infant. The occupants of the truck survived.
The highway is currently completely closed to traffic. Rescuers, doctors, and forensic experts are working at the scene. The cause of the collision is being determined.
