Azerbaijan is striving to decently fulfill its obligations to the Program on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Coordination Council for Sustainable Development Ali Ahmadov said on Monday.

He made the remarks at a seminar on the nationalization and prioritization of SDGs, APA reports.

Ahmadov said that the National Coordination Council for Sustainable Development established in Azerbaijan coordinates the efforts of concerned government agencies.

"This Council is a functional format. Awareness has been raised of Sustainable Development Goals. The Azerbaijani people are already aware of Sustainable Development Goals. 8 state programs, 31 strategies, and more than 25 normative legal acts have been investigated. A lot has been done to identify the priorities. Azerbaijan has chosen 17 goals, 107 targets and 150 indicators for itself. As a result of our government's efforts, the targets will be achieved and Azerbaijan will contribute to the implementation of this UN project. I believe that by 2030, justice will prevail throughout the world and the problems people are faced with at the moment will have been resolved," he said.

The deputy PM noted that Azerbaijan has set itself the goal of creating a more socially oriented society by 2030.

"We believe that as part of the changing world, Azerbaijan too will change in this direction,” Ahmadov added.
