A Baku resident reported to the Khatai district police department on April 22 that his safe with 30,000 dollars and jewelry items worth 100,000 manats inside had been stolen from his home.
In an immediate operation, the police detained four suspects—Baku residents Imamverdi Hasanov, Sahib Hasanbayli, ex-prisoners Elnur Aslanov and Aslan Gasimov, the Interior Ministry told APA.
It turned out that the burglary took place after Sahib Hasanbayli informed Imamverdi Hasanov about a great deal of money being kept in the victim’s home.
Having grabbed the safe, the group retreated to a house in the Absheron district where they took their shares of the cash. The jewelry items were sold and that money too was allocated among the group.
The Khatai district police office has initiated a criminal case on the burglary. The detainees are being held on remand while the investigation continues.
