The upcoming presidential election in Azerbaijan after the referendum will be different, Deputy Justice Minister Azer Jafarov said addressing a seminar held for chairpersons of district election commissions, APA reports.

“There is no age limit for presidential candidacy. The term of office of president is seven years and the president has the authority to revolve the parliament and appoint a vice president," he said.

Jafarov said that the duty of justice authorities in organizing and holding elections is clear.

"This includes the approval of normative documents, organization of elections in penitentiary institutions, e.g. investigation detention facilities and prisons. We have been closely cooperating with election commissions for 22 years to provide conditions for prisoners to participate in the voting, while prisoners are deprived of these rights in countries like Germany, Hungary and Bulgaria. In some countries, people have committed grave crimes or imprisoned for a period do not have these rights,” he added.
