Getting closer to the European Union, Azerbaijan pursues strategic purposes, said Samad Seyidov, chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament’s Committee on international and inter-parliamentary relations.
The projects implemented and to be carried out with the participation of Azerbaijan brings the country closer to Europe, Seyidov said addressing an international parliamentary conference, entitled “EU and Partners - Embracing Diversity for Stronger Unity”, in Tbilisi on Tuesday, an APA correspondent reported from Tbilisi.
“Projects such as Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars bring the region closer to Europe,” he noted.
Seyidov said that the parliamentary committee he leads has already ratified 10 strategic agreements with the EU member states. “These significant documents show that Azerbaijan is not far but close to Europe,” he added.
Azerbaijan brings energy security to Europe, stressed the MP.
“Azerbaijan invests millions of dollars in Europe and provides it with an alternative safe gas pipeline,” Seyidov said.
