Azerbaijan is an important country for the United States, said Robert Cekuta, U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan.
The ambassador made the remarks at the U.S.-Azerbaijan business forum in Baku on Monday, APA reports.
Speaking about the Southern Gas Corridor project, the U.S. diplomat stressed that this is one of the significant projects on a global scale.
The total cost of the project is estimated at $40 billion, Cekuta said adding. “We see prospects to further expand our economic relations.”
The ambassador expressed hope that this meeting will make a significant contribution to the economy of Azerbaijan.
“Azerbaijan is an important country for the United States. The fact that this country borders with Russia and Iran makes it an important country in the field of transport,” he said.
“We also want to boost the development of the petrochemical industry. I hope that at this meeting, business representatives will find ways to improve our cooperation and contribute to the prosperity of the Azerbaijani economy,” the U.S. ambassador added.
