The Yasamal district police department has initiated a criminal case under Article 263 against handball player Lyudmila Shubina (1948), an Olympic champion who caused a fatal traffic accident in Baku.
A decision will be made about Lyudmila once the expertise result is announced, APA reported.
The accident happened in Baku’s Yasamal district on July 20. A Honda driven by Lyudmila hit a woman (Mammadova Ulker Dilgam gizi) and her little son (Mammadov Huseyn Nijat oglu) who were crossing the road. The mother and the son were both taken to hospital. The woman died in hospital, while her son was discharged.
