Baku. Mubariz Aslanov- APA. Azerbaijani businessman in Ukraine has committed suicide after being wounded in a gunfight with separatists in Donetsk Province. The deceased is Ukrainian citizen Vahid Babayev (1975), the Congress of Azerbaijanis in Donetsk told APA on Aug.27.
According to information, V. Babayev came across with a group of armed separatists. The encounter then turned into a gunfight as he fought back against the armed group trying to capture him. Babayev got fatally wounded and shot himself to death with his gun so as not to be captured alive by the group. His body remained in the separatist-controlled area for 10 days before it was finally retrieved thanks to negotiations by Donetsk Azerbaijanis and the Ukrainian side. Babayev was buried in Odessa, his hometown.
Note that, Vahid Babayev’s father is from Mingachevir.
