Baku. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. Two more Azerbaijani businessmen were reportedly killed in Ukraine.

One of them is 28-year old Azerbaijani citizen Rahil Mehdiyev. His father Abdurrahman Mehdiyev told APA that last week Rahil Mehdiyev, who was living in Kherson oblast of Ukraine with his family, was killed in Yalta city of the Crimea, which is under Russian control. The father said that his son was killed by the Armenians.

Mehdiyev said that his son left Kherson for Crimea a few years ago for dealing with trade and talked about the details of the incident: “He had a trade facility in Yalta. Another Azerbaijani had also a trade facility nearby. Armenians also had trade facilities there. Two Armenians teased my son’s Azerbaijani neighbor on that day. My son immediately objected to it. They unexpectedly attacked my son. A few more Armenians joined them against my son. They stabbed him on the back of his neck several times and my son died on the spot. Investigator of Yalta city police office told me that my son disarmed two Armenians, who attacked him, and other Armenians coming for the help stabbed him,” he said.

Mehdiyev noted that police immediately detained the Armenians, but then released them. “They didn’t explain the reason to me, so I appealed to Crimean Prosecutor General and Minister of Internal Affairs, they will receive me,” he noted.

Another businessman, born in 1976, who was originally from Beylagan district of Azerbaijan, Nurushov Vugar Giyas was murdered in Kherson. (One more Azerbaijani Ilham Tagiyev was also killed in the same city). V.Nurushov’s brother Ilgar Nurushov told APA that his brother was killed by a group of former police general Lugasyan, the Armenian owner of a market in the city. “My brother’s facilities are close to the market. Relatives of Lugasyan who managed the market, didn’t like my brother’s patriotic position. They threatened my brother several times. They called my brother with phone of one of the managers of the market, intending to threaten him. Later, one of the witnesses detained by the police admitted that when my brother asked of its reason, they attacked him, beat him breaking his spine and cut his throat to death. They confessed that they did it by the order of Lugasyan. Lugasyan is a very well-known here and with his brother is distinguished by his hatred to Azerbaijanis and Turks.

I.Nurushov mentioned that the investigation delays the launch of criminal case just for the Armenian general and his links in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. “We are preparing to appeal to the government and the Prosecutor General's Office on behalf of the Azerbaijanis”, he added.

Chairman of the Congress of Azerbaijanis in Kherson Alimardan Karimov told APA that they expressed protests to the Azerbaijani Embassy of Ukraine and local law enforcement authorities regarding the murders. “We dropped remarks on the official bodies over the crime’s being covered up in Kherson, and will stage a protest against it”, he said.
