Agreement signed on holding 4th Islamic Solidarity Games in Azerbaijan

According to apasport.az, the agreement was signed during an event in this regard by President of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, President of Saudi Arabia’s Olympic Committee, Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Vice President of Azerbaijan’s National Olympic Committee Chingiz Huseynzade and Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov.

Vice President of Azerbaijan’s National Olympic Committee Chingiz Huseynzade said they have familiarized the guests with the venues that will host the games: “Today a very big event is being held. For us, it’s a day of pride. These games are of immense importance to Azerbaijani athletes. Today we can confidently say that Azerbaijani is ready to host the Islamic Solidarity Games. I believe we will host this event at the highest level”.

President of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, President of Saudi Arabia’s Olympic Committee, Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud said in his speech that Saudi Arabia would try to provide every kind of assistance to Azerbaijan during the games.

“In this event, we are going to sign an agreement on the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games. We are happy with that. And I thank Azerbaijan for its interest in hosting the games. Upon us in this difficult time is to cooperate and unite efforts. The Islamic Solidarity Federation will spare no efforts to help Azerbaijan host the games successfully.”

Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov said Azerbaijan is ready for the games: “I thank all who support our candidacy and trust us. Azerbaijan has in recent years hosted some of the most popular sports events of Europe. Solidarity is our strength. The games will be crucial in strengthening unity and solidarity between our nations. We will do all we can to organize this sports event at the highest level”.

Note that, a decision was made during the General Assembly of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in July 2013 on holding the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games in Azerbaijan.

The Islamic Solidarity Games will be held from June 23 to July 2, 2017.
