Groundbreaking ceremony held for TANAP

Baku. Malahat Najafova – APA. A groundbreaking ceremony has held for the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) with the participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili, Vice-President of the European Commission Maros Sefcovic, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz, President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan and other officials. The symbolic opening was done by the three countries’ presidents.
The first gas supply within the framework of the TANAP project, which of great importance to Turkey and EU countries in terms of energy security and diversification of supplies, is expected to start in 2018. The amount of gas supply, which will be 16 billion cubic meter, will be initially increased up to 24 billion in stages then 31 billion cubic meters afterwards.

THE OPERATION IS BEING PERFORMED
